Tompolo’s Visit to Goodluck Jonathan: What Does it Mean for 2027?

Former President Goodluck Jonathan hosted a meeting with a Niger Delta activist and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, at his country home in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

The meeting, which took place on Friday, was attended by other notable figures, including Hon. Joshua Maciver and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi.

According to Jonathan, the meeting was convened to discuss issues raised by some individuals and to promote peace in the Niger Delta region.

Tompolo’s company has been handling security contracts for oil installations in the region.

Jonathan stated, “Tompolo played a key role in the unity of our people, and today’s visit is to discuss the security issues in the Niger Delta and ensure that the region remains peaceful.”

The meeting has sparked speculation about Tompolo’s political alignments, as he has been seen supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Some reports suggest that Tompolo may have met with Jonathan to persuade him not to contest the 2027 presidential election.

However, Jonathan’s spokesperson has stated that the meeting was focused on promoting peace in the Niger Delta region.

This meeting comes amidst rumors of Jonathan’s potential presidential bid in 2027, and Tompolo’s association with both Jonathan and Tinubu adds complexity to the political landscape.
