The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, on his first year in office, commending his leadership and reforms that have restored professionalism and morale within the agency.
In a statement signed by its Assistant Secretary General, Adejuwon Emmanuel, NANS urged Ajayi to build on his successes by tackling the growing menace of certificate forgery in Nigeria’s public and political institutions.
The student body described certificate forgery as a national embarrassment that undermines the country’s credibility and devalues genuine academic efforts.
NANS cited recent cases of certificate forgery, including the alleged forgery involving an official of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
The association argued that certificate forgery is a national security issue that requires the DSS’s attention and action.
To combat certificate forgery, NANS proposed the establishment of a digitized certificate verification system to authenticate academic and professional credentials.
The student body also called for swift investigation and prosecution of offenders to serve as a deterrent.
NANS emphasized that tackling certificate forgery is crucial to restoring Nigeria’s image and maintaining the integrity of its education system.
The association urged Ajayi to make the fight against certificate forgery a national priority, stressing that his legacy as DSS chief will be defined by his response to this challenge.
