Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has sounded the alarm, warning that the Boko Haram insurgency has become deeply entrenched in Nigerian daily life.
Speaking at the launch of Gen. Lucky Irabor’s book, “Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum,” Obasanjo urged Nigerians to confront the crisis with deeper reflection and stronger action.
The event drew high-profile attendees, including serving and retired service chiefs, governors, and religious leaders, highlighting the ongoing concern about the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
Obasanjo lamented that Boko Haram is becoming a “monster” within the country, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to ask themselves tough questions and take proactive measures.
The former president praised Gen. Irabor’s book as a courageous contribution to history, documenting his experiences in tackling terrorism.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan revealed that Boko Haram fighters once requested then-General Muhammadu Buhari as their preferred negotiator during peace talks.
Jonathan admitted that the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in 2014 would remain a painful scar on his presidency.
